About Our Boards

Central Michigan University authorizes 58 charter public schools that serves more than 30,000 students throughout Michigan. These schools are governed by a public board of directors whose members are appointed by the University. The Center for Charter Schools works directly with board members in actively searching for thoughtful, civic-minded individuals who are interested in serving on a school board to optimize student achievement and organizational performance.

The Center encourages anyone interested in serving as a public official and building quality educational options for Michigan's children to submit a  board member application to The Center for Charter Schools. 

Board members who volunteer their time and expertise are as diverse as the schools they serve as evidenced by the board member demographic information provided below.
